  • Training, qualifications & experience
  • My Qualifications - Fully Qualified:; I have an BSc (Hons) Degree in Health Science:Nutritional Therapy, and have been practising for over 18 years. I have worked with clients who frequently present with stress related symptoms, as a result of fast paced and demanding contemporary lifestyles. This frequently results in chronic health issues, such as digestive & bowel issues, inflammatory conditions and poor diets with associated disordered eating, and weight gain.; I also hold a Diploma in Practitioner Skills for Eat. Dis. (National Centre for Eat. Dis.), to help individuals to recover from Eat. Dis.and disordered and emotional eating problems. Over the years, I have come to realise that frequently, emotional issues get medicalised, and it is so important to one's healing journey to understand and manage a person holistically, taking all these aspects into account.; In 2019 I qualified as a Certified Emotional Freedom Technique therapist, Accredited with EFTi. Tapping is an acupressure technique, working on the energy pathways in the body, known as meridians, where emotional trauma and disruptions, including stress and anxiety are stored. EFT is a technique to release emotional issues that may be preventing an individual from overcoming their health issues and prevent longterm recovery.; In 2011 I further qualified as an Associate Lecturer in Further Education (DTLLS), and taught Health & Social Care for five years, including lecturing in nutrition, psychology and sociology of health, psychological perspectives of health and health research.; In 2014 I became involved in community work with an NHS outreach programme, as a weight management facilitator with Anglian Community Enterprise on the My Weight Matters programme.; I am passionate about food and qualified as a Cordon Bleu Cook in 1981 and prior to training as a Nutritionist, I taught cookery, catered and gave cookery demonstrations for 22 years. As a working mother, I have always been aware of the challenges of getting a meal on the table in the evening after a long day at work, but my experience as a cook, together with my nutritional knowledge enables me to provide practical information and recipes on how to feed individuals and families in the most nutritious, economical and enjoyable ways. In 2014 I resurrected my cookery demonstrations, to show clients how to create delicious recipes, with the emphasis on fresh, nutritous ingredients. I believe it is about learning how to eat more, not less, with nutrients being the most important currency.; During my career, I have frequently presented in schools and colleges where I have given fun and interactive workshops to children and young people to raise awareness about the health damaging effects of the culture of fast food and processed foods; I provide practical information to encourage them to make informed dietary choices, in order to prevent chronic illness in the future.; I am fully insured and as a member of BANT (British Association of Nutritional Therapists) and CNHC (Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council), NTC (Nutritional Therapy Council), NCFED (Nat. Centre for Eat. Dis.) & EFTi (Emotional Freedom Techniques Int.). My training has met National Occupational Standards and I am bound and regulated by a strict Code of Ethics and Practice. I am trained and certified to use scientific and nutritional knowledge in a therapeutically curative and healing way. To compliment my knowledge and comply with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements, I attend seminars and lectures to learn about future developments in nutrition, health research & psychological health, supported by the latest scientific, evidence-based research.; Member organisations; Accredited register membership
